Meeting Time: First Thursday @ 2:00 PM
Meeting Place: Marian Room / Entrance H
The Founder of Our Lady's Rosary Makers is Brother Sylvan Mattingly, C.F.X. He was haunted by the urgency of Mary's words at Fatima, "Pray the Rosary everyday!" He had a burning desire to do something special for Mary, so he taught himself how to make rosaries to give away so others could pray the powerful prayer of the rosary. In May 1949, he founded the "Our Lady's Rosary Makers" group.
We started our group on June 16, 2015 in the Marian Room at St. Thomas Church. We continue to meet on the first Thursday of each month from 2:00-3:00 pm (September - May). During the summer months (June - August) we meet weekly.
There's a one time fee of $5.00. This pays for a membership card, a rosary making tool, beads, crucifixes, and cord that is used to make Mission Rosaries.
In our first year we made about 500 rosaries. We handed out about 300 red, white and blue rosaries at that year's Rosary Rally which was held at St. Thomas on Saturday,
October 15, 2015. Our goal is to do this or more in the years to come.
We also provide students at our Catholic schools with rosaries. We make the rosaries in the schools' colors to promote school pride. If your school needs rosaries, please let us know. You can send an email with the address of your school, colors desired, and quantity needed.
We have shipped our rosaries overseas to those in need. Please contact us if you know of others that would like our Mission Rosaries.
Our Lady’s Rosary Makers History
Our Lady’s Rosary Makers (OLRM) was founded in 1949 by Xaverian Brother Sylvan Mattingly, C.F.X. on the premise that he would teach people to make rosaries on the premise they would make and distribute them freely to missionaries. OLRM's Mission, set forth by our founder, Brother Sylvan, C.F.X., who envisioned a world in which all God’s children, possessing an instrument of peace and comfort, work to fulfill Our Lady’s requests at Fatima.
