Meeting Time: Tuesdays from 2:00 - 4:00 PM (September-May)
Meeting Place: Parlor / Entrance C
St. Thomas Parish has had a long history of reaching out to help others. Some members of our parish have joined together to form the St. Thomas Prayer Shawl Ministry.
The ministry is designed to comfort those in need by providing a "shawl" in which to wrap them and to be comforted. A special prayer for the recipient is said by the knitter/crotchetier at the beginning, during, and at the completion of the shawl. Recipients might include the sick, homebound, those who have lost a loved one, or for any special occasion. Knitters/crotchetiers and recipients can attest to the power of this ministry.
Prayer Shawl Group meets each Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Parlor. All women in the parish who knit and crochet, are welcome to join this meaningful ministry.
At this time we wish to invite any member of the parish who would like to knit or crochet a prayer shawl to join our group. We meet in the church Parlor on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 PM except during the summer months, June, July & August.
The shawls will not be sold nor will there be a suggested donation. However, parish organizations as well as individuals may make a contribution to help sustain this ministry. If you would prefer to donate yarn, we use Lyon Brand Homespun and it takes three skeins per shawl.
If you need to pick up a prayer shawl during the week, you may stop by the RE office Monday through Thursday between 8:30 AM to 3:45 PM. The finished shawls are blessed and given in a gift bag with a prayer card included.
